I thought long and hard about these…
And, finally, after an involved thought process, I came up with a few resources:
(1) Urban Gateways is a non-profit organization that does arts programming of all kinds in the public schools, including many schools that don’t even have arts programs. They have artist residencies, before/after school programs, and professional development. A great resource to know about if we don’t end up as teachers in CPS but want to work with schools.
(2) The Chicago Printmaker’s Collaborative is located in Lincoln Square (my new neighborhood, come visit!) and is a great resource for printmakers: studio space, classes, gallery, etc.
(4) And lastly, the Creative Reuse Warehouse! Creatively repurpose! Cheap & helps the earth!
